Posing Beauty Photography Exhibit @ USC

For LA art & beauty lovers alike, if you loved the current Beauty Culture exhibit at the Annenberg Space for Photography in Century City, then you’ll definitely enjoy the new Posing Beauty in African American Culture photography exhibit @ downtown’s USC!

Open from now until December 3rd, this gorgeous photography show “explores the contested ways in which African and African American beauty have been represented in historical and contemporary contexts through a diverse range of media including photography, film, video, fashion, advertising, and other forms of popular culture such as music and the Internet.”

The exhibit is categorized into 3 sections – “Constructing a Pose”, “Body and Image”, and “Modeling Beauty & Beauty Contests” of work from over 40 photographers.

With images ranging from a 1960’s Harlem fashion show, Michael Jackson in the 80’s to Michelle Obama in 2006, this photography exhibit is an absolute MUST-SEE for those who love anything and everything about the beauty industry.

There will be a panel discussion led by on Oct.4th @ 5pm by the exhibit’s curator, Deborah Willis in the Grand Ballroom, Ronald Tutor Campus Center at USC.
