Birchbox’s 2012 Beauty Pulse Holiday Survey – What Women Want
Thanks to beauty & lifestyle sampling company, Birchbox, we now have a good idea of what women want…in beauty shopping, that is!
Birchbox released its Winter 2012 Birchbox Beauty Pulse Survey Holiday Edition, which polled 3,000 women across the U.S. on their holiday shopping plans, budgets, buying habits, and more.
Here are some of the interesting results:
- 62% said they generally wear more makeup during the holidays
- 43% noted red as their lipstick color of choice for the holiday season (23% said dark red, 20% cherry red)
- The Top 5 favorite beauty service splurge during the holidays are as follows (in order): Mani/Pedis, Massages, Facials, Blow Outs, Makeup Applications
- 66% said they were likely to give friends a beauty or grooming gift this holiday season
- 56% said their mom were a target for a beauty/grooming gift
- When shopping for and receiving beauty product holiday gifts: 71% like to give body beauty products, 53% like to give nail products, 52% like to gift makeup products, 51% like giving fragrance gifts, 31% like gifting skincare gifts, and 20% like to gift hair care products
- 84% like to buy gifts online
- The most popular holiday budget range was $251–500 (37%) followed by $501–1,000 and $101–250 (both 23%), $1,000+ (10%) and $0–100 (7%)
So what does this mean for beauty brands?
That there are plenty of opportunities to grow your business especially around the holiday season!
