NPD releases Makeup In-Depth Consumer Report: BB Creams are a Hit!
This probably seems like common sense but a new study claims that women love multi-tasking beauty products!
In NPD’s Makeup In-Depth Consumer 2012 Report conducted in March, over 8 in 10 women use makeup products with skincare benefits. That’s a whopping 86%!
Here are more interesting results from the survey:
- Regardless of age, moisturizing and SPF protection are the two most sought after benefits in all makeup products.
- Older women are more likely to seek products that pack moisturizing and anti-aging benefits, while younger women prefer products that help control oil and acne.
- Moisturizers and sun protection are the most sought after “extras”
- While NPD says just 2% of women currently use BB (blemish balm) creams, their enthusiasm is high: 77% plan to repurchase them. 4 in 10 beauty shoppers overall say they are considering a BB Cream in the future.
- When it comes to foundation, 3/4 or 76% of the surveyed women were looking for a product that evens out skin tone, although SPF protection, moisturizing and oil-free was also desired.
- For lipstick, long-wearing (74%) and moisturizing (68%) are by far the highest-rated attributes.
- For lip gloss, women want a glossy finish (65%) and moisturizing abilities (64%).
- For mascara, consumers want thickening/volume (63%) and lengthening (62%). Anti-clumping comes in third with 56% of mascara users rating the benefit “important.”
