Mother’s Day: What do Moms REALLY Want (hint: it’s nothing you can actually buy)
Unless you’ve been in a hermit cave or decided to go “unplugged” for the past few weeks, you know that Mother’s Day is just days away (Saturday, May 12th).
Rather than scramble for the standard last-minute Mother’s Day gifts i.e. flowers, candles, chocolates, etc. why not give her something that she REALLY wants? Something that she truly deserves and rarely asks for?
P&G soap brand, Ivory, conducted a survey of more than 1,000 American moms which revealed several results that may solve the question of what to give Mom for Mother’s Day:
- 30% found the most complicated aspect of motherhood was finding more time
- 66% confessed to hiding in the bathroom to seek out more alone time
- 70% admitted that they feel others think they have everything together when in fact they don’t
So what do hard-working moms really want for Mother’s Day? THE GIFT OF TIME.
Moms don’t need another accessory, piece of clothing, jewelry, flowers, or candy – they just want some well-deserved peace and quiet.
Here some ideas:
- Offer to take out mom for a delicious brunch or dinner – someplace fancy where Mom can finally wear that outfit that she keeps saying she doesn’t have an “occasion to wear it to”
- Go hiking so it’s just the 2 of you, away from all the hustle & bustle of everyday life
- Spend a day at the beach – it doesn’t matter if the weather isn’t beach-perfect yet. Sometimes a nice walk along the beach is good enough!
- Splurge on a spa service – Whether it’s a facial, a mani/pedi, or a massage – trust me, she’ll appreciate the pampering
Happy Mother’s Day to all you hard-working moms out there! We may not say it enough but we are so grateful for everything that you do!
