Makeup Tips: Looking Good for your Interview

The big day is almost here and you’ve done your company research, prepped for potential interview questions, laid out your interview outfit…AND YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO YOUR MAKEUP.

We know how confusing it can be especially since there are so many factors to consider like the company environment or transportation methods (sweating off your makeup on a subway is never a good thing).

Regardless of company industry or type, here’s our TOP 5 BEAUTY TIPS that will keep you looking AND feeling your best for an interview:

interview makeup tips1. BASE: It’s important to look fresh and clean for an interview so using a good primer and foundation or tinted moisturizer is crucial. Also use a concealer to hide anything distracting like pimples or redness. Do NOT use a bronzer or blush since this is one of the few cases where LESS IS MORE.

 2. EYES: Similar to your face, keep your eye makeup simple. Soft eyeshadow in a neutral color like a brown or taupe paired with mascara is perfect. Use a dark brown eyeliner instead of black so its less harsh.

3. LIPS: I’ve never been a huge fan of lip glosses especially if you have long hair since its never attractive to see a candidate’s hair stuck on her lips. If possible, use a natural-looking or rosy pink lipstick (rosy pink is universally flattering for all skin types). Stay away from bright and dark colors.

4. NAILS: Since your hands will be noticeable for most of your interview (especially when you’re going through your resume), its a good idea to paint your nails a neutral color like a cream or light pink.

5. FACE & BODY: Bring along oil-blotting sheets, deodorant, and gum to battle any last-minute oiliness, sweating, and bad breath.

Remember the KISS theory back in school (Keep it Simple Stupid)? This is definitely the time to keep that in mind. Don’t let your makeup distract your interviewer!

Good luck!
