I’ve got local in my beauty bag…

I think it’s really important to support our local beauty community here in California, so I make a concerted effort to buy locally-based brands.

Here’s a list of what I’ve got in my cosmetics bag right now and why:

Josie Maran:  My Favorite Powders.  I like the convenience of having an entire palette in one place, and Josie really focuses on using natural and organic ingredients.  This small compact includes two blushes, four eye shadows, and a bronzing powder.  It’s great on the go!  And I take it everywhere.

Physician’s Formula: Organic wear Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15.  I use this for everyday sun protection and light coverage.  It’s inexpensive, hydrating and I like the way it evens out my skin.

Stila:  Smudge Pots in black.  I got this at the CEW event in November and fell in love.  Every time I go out at night, I use it for a more dramatic eye.  I’m horrible at putting on eyeliner, but this one is really easy to use.

Stila:  Lip & Cheek Stain in Cherry Crush.  I also got this at the CEW event, and it’s been in my purse ever since.  I love dual purpose anything, and when I need to go somewhere after work, it’s great to add a some rosiness to my cheeks and lips without looking too “done up.”

Smashbox: Eye Shadow Trio in Multi-Flash.  Again, I love having all my eye colors in one small place.

Lorac:  Full Face Kit in ShowStopper.  I use this palette more for nighttime drama.  The  brown spice color doubles to fill in my eyebrows.  This happens to be on sale right now for only $17.50 – bonus!

DiorShow Mascara– OK, it’s not local, but it came in the schwag bag at the February CEWEvent, so I’m giving it a try.  It’s a bit perfumey for my taste but does make the lashes look great.

I also use a range of brushes…some from Sephora, Smashbox, Stila and Benefit.

I hope I’ve inspired you to think about what’s in your bag.  We have such great choices in beauty and cosmetics, so why not support our local California economy?!?!
